Mongolian horse hair is usually processed in Japan due to the absence of reliable hair dressing companies in Mongolia.  Mongolian hair from Japan has been imported for over forty years and have come to rely on the incredibly high-quality work the Japanese companies have to offer. Since bow hair is selected and tied solely by hand, production costs can be very high, especially in an industrialised country such as Japan. The Chinese companies which appear to provide cheaper alternatives are simply not experienced in the processing of Mongolian hair.
